Travelodge Fairfield/Napa Valley receives mixed reviews, with notable issues surrounding cleanliness, maintenance, and pest control. While some guests appreciate the value and location, recurring complaints about stained rooms, bed bugs, cockroach sightings, and malfunctioning amenities significantly detract from the overall experience. Recent reviews highlight a decline in service and upkeep.
I forgot to get pictures of the very stained tub (not dirty but the porcelain was permanently stained) with the tub stopper that didn't work. I also forgot to get pictures of the broken chair in the room. When I went at 3 pm to check in they told me to come back after 5 pm. But when I asked for a late check out (because the tub stopper didn't work and we needed time to get it fixed and bathe the kids) they said no which is odd, I guess it is okay for them to be late for check in but not me to be late for check out. The repairman came to look at the tub and he said he couldn't fix it right away so his advice was to stuff a washcloth in the drain to bathe my kids. Not the best option as it didn't hold water very well. The pictures of the sheets show the dog paw prints we found on the sheets when we pulled the sheets back to go to bed. I am hoping the sheets were clean and just stained but it wasn't super fun to find those. The curtains were hung wrong so it was very difficult to get the room dark because the walkway lights were bright. One picture shows that someone trimmed their short curly hairs by the bed and the nightstand at some point and they never got swept up. Kind of icky. Also, anytime anyone moved upstairs there was a lot of creaking which made me worry about structural integrity. Overall, needs renovation and could be cleaner.
I arbitrarily booked a stay here for a work trip before checking the reviews and once I looked at the rating, I wanted to be optimistic since reviews tend be biased. After all, most people who have regular stays with nothing to complain about don't typically bother to leave a review. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at all. My coworker who was staying in another room had a slightly better experience. When you first pull into the area, it's a little more isolated--a good thing and a bad thing. I didn't want to assume that since the outside was modest looking that the room itself couldn't be good. Checking in was fine and the receptionist was polite. However, once I walked toward my room, the outdoor smelled like dog pee. I enter the room and it's carpet and there is a strong musty smell. It made me think that a pet had peed in the room and the carpet was not properly cleaned with a pet enzyme cleaner? I check the bedding and it has many questionable stains. I do not feel clean and comfortable at this point and book another hotel but to avoid the cancellation fee, I stay the night. I tried to identify where the smell was coming from so that I could maybe avoid that area but as I lift the bed skirt up, I notice a LOT of trash (napkins, paper cups, tissues, etc.) underneath the bed. Eventually, the musty smell goes away (either I got used to it or it dissipated?). At night while I brush my teeth, a baby cockroach suddenly appears out of nowhere and crawls across the mirror. I try to sleep through the night on top of the sheets toward the center of the bed but I wake up in the middle of the night and see a medium sized cockroach crawl up the wall near the front door. I eventually make it to the morning and check out as soon as my coworker is ready to go. The deposit and refunded stay should have taken 3-5 business days but it ended up taking a few more days. At least I got it back. I feel bad for leaving a bad review but I did not appreciate staying in such conditions. At least the price was very low but I don't think that justifies lack of cleanliness.
On 1/20/26 we rented room 118 at Travelodge 4625 Central Way, Fairfield, CA 94534. The next morning I let the desk guy know the light above the bathroom sink wasn't working and probably needed a new bulb. It's a little dark by the sink without the light. The shower wall blocks the ceiling light from shining to the sink. Almost two weeks later 1/31/26 we rented the same room, 118. The bathroom sink light still doesn't work. I went to the front desk area this morning at 9:30 to get coffee like I've done several times. I hadn't mentioned the light and won't since it doesn't help. The lady said there is no coffee, you'll have to use the little coffee maker in the room. That's why I'm giving this hotel only 2 stars. Bad maintenance. A maid should have caught it also.
This hotel is in a quiet location but still close enough to gas and food. The main reason I'm writing this review is because we had a room on the top floor for three nights and throughout our whole stay I did not see housekeeping come upstairs once. So i guess my question is how are the upstairs rooms getting clean. But if you are looking for a place to stay for a night or two it's not a bad hotel.
Easy check in. Basic room and had zero issues with the stay. Best room for the budget. No not a 5 star hotel, but a 5 star stay in the price range. Clean room and nice stay.
Staff was nice but my room lights would not turn on. I tried every light switch and only the bathroom lights were working. When i walked barefoot the carpet felt a bit moist as if it were wet. Saw some yellowing on the bed covers did not stay my full reservation, 2 hrs tops.
I've been here for almost five days the staff here have been great. When I needed help to book a longer stay after my initial one night the lady at the front desk made sure she did everything she could to get me a good rate and she did just that. Anytime I need a hotel in Fairfield I'm coming straight here every time
I have stayed here a few times. Its tucked back you will pass it if not paying attention. Its quiet, the staff is always friendly, and the rooms are clean. For the price its decent. I would recommend it if your on a budget. Its also next to restaurants, gas stations, and stores so the location is perfect.
Okay for the price, but only for the price. The room was the smallest I’ve ever stayed in—“cozy” but cramped. It also had a sour carpet-like smell, though luckily I brought an air sanitizer. On the plus side, they squeezed in a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and small desk. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and spacious, and I didn’t see any bugs. Downsides: TV was small and off-center, AC only had a hot/cold dial and blew right on the bed, and Wi-Fi was terrible (second building, only worked by the window). That said, for hotels in this price range, this is definitely one of the better options. I’d stay again just for the low rate, but I’d bring allergy meds, an air freshener, and patience for the Wi-Fi.
Front desk is horrendous. No personality. I even called them a week after my security deposit was NOT returned to my account (they informed me that it always takes 3-5 days) and the guy HUNG UP ON ME. Wyndham MUST do better.
